Introduction

Easter initiates a new day. It anticipates a new heaven and a new earth. The risen Christ is making all things new. In the mystery of holy baptism God has made new people of us. Today Jesus invites us to see everyone in a new light—through the lens of love.

Prayer of the Day

Scripture

Acts 11:1-18 Peter’s vision: God give the Gentiles repentance that leads to life

In defense of his earlier baptism of non-Jewish believers, Peter demonstrates to the members of the Jerusalem church that God’s intention to love Gentiles as well as Jews is revealed in Jesus’ testimony. In this way the mission to the Gentiles is officially authorized.

Psalm 148 The splendor of the Lord is over earth and heaven. (Ps. 148:13)

Revelation 21:1-6 New heaven, new earth: springs of living water in the new Jerusalem

John’s vision shows us that in the resurrection the new age has dawned; God dwells with us already. Yet we wait for the time when the tears that cloud our vision will be wiped away. Then we will see the new heaven, new earth, and new Jerusalem.

John 13:31-35 Jesus gives a new commandment: Love one another as I have loved you

After washing the disciples’ feet, predicting his betrayal, and then revealing his betrayer, Jesus speaks of his glorification on the cross. This deep complicated love of Jesus, even to death on the cross, will be the distinctive mark of Jesus’ community.

Fellowship Time

You are invited to stay after worship for refreshments and fellowship time in the gathering space.

Follow Jesus on the Journey: Bring Easter Life to Others

Having walked the Lenten path of repentance and reconciliation, Easter calls us to step into the fullness of new life in Christ. The resurrection is not just an event to be celebrated but a reality to be lived and shared. Jesus’ victory over sin and death empowers us to become bearers of His life-giving love, bringing hope, joy, and renewal to a world in need. As we follow the Risen Christ, we are sent forth as His disciples, called to embody His grace in our words, actions, and relationships. The empty tomb is our invitation to live with bold faith, trusting that God’s transformative power continues to work through us.

Bringing Easter life to others means reflecting Christ’s love in tangible ways—offering compassion to the suffering, justice to the oppressed, and kindness to the weary. It is a call to proclaim the Good News, not just with our voices but through lives that radiate the light of resurrection hope. Just as Jesus breathed peace upon His disciples and sent them into the world, we too are commissioned to be agents of healing and restoration. May our hearts, once opened to reconciliation, now overflow with the joy of Easter, as we share God’s boundless love and build His kingdom here on earth.
