Hebrews 13:2
Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing, some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
The All Saints Food Pantry has had a wonderful “angel” donating and delivering food to us for the past year. The angel’s name is Walt Veiring. He is retired and decided to take an interest he has had using coupons to another level. He reads all the ads and shops at all the Quad City grocery stores comparing prices. He then extreme coupons and delivers his inexpensive, yet good quality brand name food to our Food Pantry. Because of Walt and his passion, this past year we have been able to give out fresh produce, milk, eggs, quality meat and detergent. Walt always has a huge smile on his face and is a very humble, kind man.
Over Christmas we did not see Walt for a couple of weeks. This did not concern us as the holidays this year fell on the weekend. Last week he called me to ask if I could meet him at church with a large donation he had. While I greeted him with a “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,” the first words out of his mouth were an apology. “I’m so sorry I haven’t been here for two weeks, I was in the hospital. Walt received six units of blood and had many, many tests and, as of this writing, does not have a diagnosis.
I am asking our All Saints prayer warriors to pray for Walt. I truly believe he is an angel and am so thankful for his passion and his friendship.
Hebrews 1:14
Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation.
