Churches United of the Quad City Area is excited to announce the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will be visiting the Davenport area on Saturday, December 3.
The train will arrive at 1:45 p.m. at the corner of Western Avenue and West River Drive in Davenport. A concert featuring popular Canadian music artists, Kelly Prescott and Colin James, will take place from 2 to 2:30 p.m.
Events will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa will be handing out candy canes and goodie bags to kids. There also will be hot chocolate and cookies available.
“We are really excited to have the Hunger Train back because it aligns so well with our hunger ministry at Churches United,” said Anne Wachal, Executive Director. “It’s never a guarantee when we will receive the train. And being a recipient is such an honor.”
Cost is a suggested donation of non-expired non-perishable food items. All donations will go to the 25 Churches United Food Pantries throughout the Quad-Cities area.
“The non-perishable food donations from the community are such a big help this time of year,” said Wachal. “And we’re so grateful for the donation from Canadian Pacific.”
We suggest guests arrive early, this event is well attended and all treats and goodie bags are first come, first served.
The only parking available at Modern Woodmen Park will be very limited and include handicapped accessibility. Other parking will be available in nearby parking lots.
