On the Day of Pentecost, the assigned scripture is always from Acts 2. It tells the story of the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples. For us today, the time after Pentecost highlights the life of the Spirit-infused church – disciples in action.
Our new altarscape tells the story of Pentecost. The doves symbolize the coming of the Holy Spirit. The red fabric signifies the flames of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost is celebrated fifty days after Easter Day, which is signified by the fifty candles lining the red and white fabric. Our altarscape will be a beautiful reminder for us throughout this season. Thank you, Julie!
Our sending prayer for this season empowers us:
God of mercy and grace, the eyes of all wait upon you, and you open your hand in blessing. Guided by the Spirit of truth, send us now as your disciples, announcing peace and proclaiming that the reign of God has come near; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
