Here’s a summary of last week’s VBS from Rev. Kendra Thompson, Minister of Faith Formation at Edwards UCC:

During 2015 Vacation Bible School, we studied the themes: Trust God-Noah and the Ark; Obey God-Jonah and the Whale; Follow God – Jesus and the Disciples; God Provides – Loaves and Fishes; and Believe in God – Jesus Walks on Water.

We made crafts, like snow globes out of our water bottles and boats out of paper, but we also worked on social action projects within the church and outside. (For instance, gathering food items for All Saints food pantry & making care baskets for homebound members.) We selected RiverAction.org as our mission project this year, and this week Edwards UCC will turn in registration funds and all those bills, pennies, dimes, nickles & quarters and cut them a check for $117.76.

The children also learned three songs: Arky, Arky; Wade in the Water; and a Cathy Wetzel (Edwards UCC church member) original song, Gone Fishin.

Friday night of VBS was an all-church gathering. We grilled burgers and dogs, and concluded VBS with a party – including a bounce house!

Attendance was right around 20 people each night of VBS. It was great to partner with All Saints. We loved having the help, especially from Scott, Marilyn, and Rhaena. I hope we can partner again!
