Go Girl International Foundation

Ellen Bloomingdale’s boss, Lola VanDeWalle, Founder of the “Go Girl International Foundation”, is headed to South Dakota in August with her associates to help out the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation school “Red Cloud” located in the badlands. For those of you who are not familiar with the Red Cloud school, it is the lowest poverty level in our nation, suicides are at a very high level among young teenage girls at 25 to 30%, and there is great need there. The average age to live to on the reservation is only 40.

Lola and her associates  are loading a big trailer full of school supplies, teacher supplies, and basic needs bags, and Lola will personally be delivering them to the reservation. Many of you may have seen the TV specials on this reservation and have seen how bad the day-to-day living is there. The hope of the foundation is to reach out to the children and help give them the education to make a better life and choices. Your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

To donate, call Lola with any question 563-529-5496, or you can bring donations to church and Ellen will get them to Lola. Lola is planning to leave the third or fourth week of August.  Thanks and God’s blessings.

Quad Cities CROP Hunger Walk

This year’s CROP Walk is Sunday, October 7, 2012! What is the Crop Walk? The Quad City Crop Walk is a bi-state walk where scores of churches and other faith groups enlist pledged sponsors to pay them to “walk for the hungry”. Registration begins at 12:00 with entertainment and FUN prior to the walk start at 2 PM from Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport.  Of the money raised, 25% comes back to the Quad Cities to benefit to local hunger ministries and the rest going to Church World Service to combat hunger and disaster relief around the world. More information to come.
