Worship Highlights

Several weeks ago, a new song was introduced titled Follow You Anywhere (words and music by Kristian Stanfill, Brett Younker, Phil Wickham, and Jason Ingram) during the worship service. The lyrics are extremely meaningful if you let yourself be immersed in the words and music where we are reminded to follow Jesus. You may read more about the meaning of the song from Kristian Stanfill in an article that was published in 2019.

09.21.2025 Worship

Matt led the service this past Sunday, September 21, and preached on the readings for the day. Here is the conclusion of the message:

Conclusion: Our Refuge and Strength

When you step back, the message through all these readings is clear.

● Amos says wealth built on injustice cannot stand.

● The psalmist reminds us that God lifts the poor from the dust.

● Paul calls us to lives of prayer and trust in Christ.

● Jesus himself calls us to be wise stewards, faithful in little things, serving God above all else.

All of them point to the same truth: God alone is our refuge and strength.

Not money.
Not possessions.
Not success.
Not control.

Only God.

And God has already given us the truest security of all: Jesus Christ, who gave himself as a ransom for all.

Because of Jesus, we are free. Free to let go of fear. Free to live generously. Free to follow God, our refuge and strength.

So hear again the words of Jesus: “You cannot serve God and wealth” (Luke 16:13, NRSVue).

But thankfully, we can serve God. Because God has already served us, through Christ Jesus our Lord.
