Holy Week Worship

Theme for the season of Lent
Listen! God is Calling.

Theme Write-up: If Epiphany is a season of answering the question, “Who is God in and through the person of Jesus Christ?” Lent, I think becomes the season of, “How then shall we live?” It is a season of contradictions, a call back to the spiritual practices that ground the life of disciples throughout the millennia, and a call forward to the lives God is calling us to embrace, individually and communally. It is a season that calls us to live in the tension of confession and forgiveness, death and resurrection. In this particular Lenten series, “Listen, God is Calling,” we explore how Lent is a season of ancient practice and courageous experimentation, of prophetic dreaming rooted in practiced tradition.

Maundy Thursday Worship will be Thursday, March 28th at 7 pm in sanctuary. This service will include the Laying of Hands, Holy Communion, and Stripping of the Altar.

Good Friday Worship will be Friday, March 29th at 7 pm in the sanctuary. This service is a solemn remembrance of Christ’s crucifixion.

Sunday, March 31st Information

Theme for the season of Easter (March 31 – May 12, 2024)
United by the Resurrection, we walk in God’s Light

Theme Write-up

“United by the Resurrection, we walk in God’s Light” serves as a guiding theme for our congregation as we enter the season of Easter. Rooted in the foundational truth of Christ’s triumph over death, this theme speaks to the heart of our Lutheran faith, emphasizing the communal aspect of our journey as believers. As we gather together in worship and fellowship, we are reminded of the unifying power of Christ’s resurrection, which binds us together as a community of faith.

During this Easter season, we are called to embrace the light of Christ and allow it to illuminate our path forward. We recognize that our shared belief in the resurrection inspires us to walk in God’s light, embodying the values of love, justice, and reconciliation. Through our collective witness, we seek to spread the message of hope and renewal to all those around us, reflecting the transformative power of the resurrection in our lives and in our world.

Christ is Risen!
He is Risen Indeed!

Introduction Copyright © 2024 Augsburg Fortress.

Christ is risen! Jesus is alive, and God has swallowed up death forever. With Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, we may feel astonished and confused, unsure of what to make of the empty tomb. But this is why we gather: to proclaim, witness, praise, and affirm the liberating reality of Christ’s death and resurrection. In word and feast, we celebrate God’s unending love, and depart to share this good news with all the world. Alleluia!

Acts 10:34-43

Peter crosses the immense religious and social boundary that separates Jews from Gentiles in order to proclaim the good news of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, so that God’s forgiveness in Jesus’ name would reach out to all people.

Mark 16:1-8

The resurrection of Jesus is announced, and the response is one of terror and amazement.
