Food Pantry and Clothing Closet

The food pantry continues to be one of the busiest food pantries in the Quad Cities! For the past several months, the food pantry & clothing closet have served over 100 families each week. The Food Pantry & Clothing Closet are open every Saturday from 11 am – 1 pm, even holiday weekends.

Thank you for all the volunteers who work tirelessly each week, whether that is when we are open to the public or during the week to prepare! Many hands make light work. – John Heywood

Volunteers are needed every week to load food from River Bend Food Bank at 8:30 am as well as unload the food from River Bend Food Bank at All Saints. The schedule to unload the load at the church is every Friday at 9:15 am except the week of the third Thursday which will be 9:30 am. Hy-Vee on Devils Glen Road in Bettendorf donates day-old bread to All Saints on Saturdays. This bread needs to be picked up after 7:30 am and delivered to church no later than 10 am. Help is appreciated for this as well!

The food pantry needs toilet paper, bars of individually wrapped soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce & noodles, soup, and plastic grocery bags.

Non-monetary donations are received Fridays between 9:30 and 10:00 am, Saturdays between 10:30 am and 1:00 pm, or Sundays between 9:15 am and 11:15 am. If these times don’t work call Bonnie, Anne, or the office to coordinate. If you would like to donate monetarily, please send a check to All Saints Lutheran Church (5002 Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, IA 52807) with food pantry marked on the memo line.

Sunday school

Sunday school is at 9:00 am in the nursery/classroom located in the office hallway (first door on the left). Sunday school will use the curriculum All-In-One Sunday School by Lois Keffer.

Sunday Morning Worship

All Saints Lutheran Church is a congregation of people called by God to ignite passion for Jesus and transform their neighborhoods with hope and love. We believe all are welcome. Really, everyone. All kinds of people, in all walks of life, call All Saints home.

Worship at All Saints might look and feel a little different. We carefully and prayerfully select a worship theme each season, and we choose songs and liturgical elements that help communicate that theme and bring us closer to God and to one another.

Please join us for worship at 10:00 am on Sunday, October 2nd for the 17th Sunday after Pentecost. All worship services are offered in-person in the sanctuary or via Facebook Live on the church’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/allsaintsdavenport).

Plan on staying after worship for fellowship time and refreshments in the gathering space.

The worship service can be watched at a later time on the church’s Facebook newsfeed or on the church’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCS2ArtcS2DWdwFD1gYXSBng/featured).

If you would like worship items to be able to actively participate while watching worship online, please let the office know by Thursday at 9:00 am.

Note:

  • Communion will be served continuously at the communion rail.
  • There is new software being used for projection, and there is a slight learning curve for the people running projection on Sunday mornings. Please be patient with everyone during this transition.

CROP Hunger Walk of the Quad Cities

The QC Crop Walk is a 3.5-mile bi-state walk where dozens of churches and other groups enlist pledged sponsors to pay them to “walk for the hungry.” This year’s 51st annual Quad Cities CROP Hunger Walk will take place on October 2, 2022.

If you would like to walk or donate, please see Anne as she is the contact person for All Saints Lutheran Church this year.

Attention Women of the Congregation

A Letter from the Women of the ELCA:

Dear Sisters in Christ,

Cluster 6 meeting will take place Saturday, October 8, 2022, at St. James Lutheran Church in Bettendorf, starting at 9 AM with a light breakfast and ending at 11:30 AM.  We are planning to provide crocheted or knitted prayer squares for our five delegates from SEIA women’s synod that are planning to attend the Triennial next fall in Phoenix, AZ.  Ideally, we need 250 total.  We will also be collecting quilts for Lutheran World Relief, and tying quilts at the workshop, and also rolling bandages for Global Health.  Many hands make light work!  Hope you can join us.

Attendees should contact Linda Kortemeyer at Korte4m3@gmail.com or 563-271-3309. Please let her know if interested in crocheting or knitting, as we will provide hooks and needles if needed, preferably size F hook for crocheting.  We will also provide yarn.  Doris Mack will help teach the pattern for these crochet squares, and we plan to have someone for the knitting as well.  Hopefully, once you have the instructions, more squares can be completed after the workday to be collected at our spring meeting.

We will plan to collect hygiene items for St. James Food Pantry and cash donations are also appreciated for supporting our cluster and synod and the food pantry.

Take care, and prayers for everyone’s health,

Cindee Schnekloth

Cluster 6 coordinator
