Email Spam to be aware of

Hello Church,

It has come to my attention that a spam account has been created impersonating pastors asking their congregation members for gift cards, money and other financial assistance. Well, it has made its way to using my name now. I will never ask for money, gift cards, or financial assistance over email. If you ever receive an email claiming to be from me, asking for any kind of money, gift cards or financial assistance, please call me or the church office. Below is an example of how they “get you”. They will use your name in the message when addressing you.

“Hi (person), Are You Available?

I need A favor from you, Email me as soon as you get my message.

Peace,
Pastor Amy Diller”

If you reply, they will send you something like this:

“Thank you for your response (person),

I need you to help me with an Amazon Gift Card worth of $400 at $100 denominations for a friend of mine going through cancer in the hospital. She needs the cards to download her favorite musics and videos to boost her confidence on her next phase of surgery and fight over cancer which she’s going to undergo today but i can’t do this now.

Let me know if you can help me with this.

Blessings.”

As I said, they are looking for money or gift cards. It is also coming from this email address:

“From: Pastor Amy Diller <lead.church93@gmail.com>
Date: Feb 9, 2020 12:56 PM
Subject: Re: PEACE”

Please note, while it says “Pastor Amy Diller” that is not my email address. Any emails you get from a “vague” sounding address, not bearing my name or initials is not actually me.

So be aware, if anything claiming to be from me or the church sounds “off”, please call me or the church to verify.

Thanks,

Pr. Amy
