December Happenings

Poinsettias

Poinsettias will be displayed for the Advent and Christmas seasons (Dec 2 – 30, 2018). If you would like to purchase a poinsettia in memory of or honor of a loved one see the clipboard on the kiosk in the gathering space. Please indicate clearly if it is in memory of or in honor of that person on the sign-up sheet. The poinsettias are $8 each. Please place the money in the offering plate (marked clearly). You may take your purchased plant home at the end of the Christmas season.

ELCA Good Gifts Angel Tree

There will be gift tags on the angel tree for different ELCA Good Gifts again this year. Please consider taking a tag and placing the amount in an offering envelope, marked for the item on the tag. Families can take the tag (ornament) home for their own Christmas tree. There are also Christmas cards by the tree to take if you would like to inform a family that you have given a gift to ELCA Good Gift program in honor of your relationship with that family. We all have so many items to dust and manage, the items from the ELCA Good Gift program are life changing, which is what the birth of Christ was for all of us.

Quilting/Sewing Group

The quilting group is working this year on making a quilt for an auction in May that will benefit the Lutheran summer camp at Strawberry Point. We have purchased the pattern and fabric.  The quilt must be completed by the first of April. It takes our small team about 3 months to complete a quilt, so we are asking if anyone wants to join in the fellowship and fun. Perhaps to press seams if sewing is not your thing. Also, the cost to long arm the quilt will be between $100 to $150 as well as the batting so any contributions would be appreciated. Come join the fun on Saturdays at 9:30 am in the gathering space.

Bible Study

A Bible Study, O come let us adore Him: The gospel according to Christmas Carols, will be Sundays at 11:45 am (following worship) on Sunday, December 9th, 16th, and 23rd at All Saints Lutheran Church.

A Living Nativity

On Saturday, December 15 St. James and All Saints will host the event “A Living Nativity” from 4 – 7 pm at St. James. Please see the Together in Christ section for more information.

Christmas Eve Worship Services

Two worship services will be offered on Christmas Eve. One at St James Lutheran Church at 4:00 pm and one at All Saints Lutheran Church at 7:00 pm. There will not be worship on Christmas Day at either church.
