2017 QC CROP Hunger Walk Open House and Rally

For the last several years Anne Holtan has been the contact person for the QC CROP walk (6-mile, bi-state event engaging scores of churches and other faith groups to enlist pledged sponsors and “walk for the hungry.”). All Saints is looking for someone else to be the church coordinator. Below is a letter from Rick Martin, QC CROP Hunger Walk committee.

Greetings to all,
We are two months away from our 46th annual Quad Cities CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, October 1st.

But before we step off, we need to get everyone prepared. So, in two weeks, on August 17th, we will hold our usual Open House & Rally from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at First Lutheran Church, 1230 – 5th Avenue, downtown Moline. There, the recruiters and team captains can

  • Pick up all necessary forms, flyers, bulletin inserts, signs, etc. that help them put together a team of walkers and encourage donations.
  • Find out how, or refresh your memory, to use the online “Walk on the Web” donation site, including signing up your team and your individual walkers.
  • Learn what’s new this year, including some door prizes on walk day, our planned big food drive on walk day to help stock local food pantries, and find out how those pantries (and a portion of your donations) work.
  • And get pumped up as together we aim for 600 walkers and $60,000 in donations.

Did you know that the Quad Cities CROP Hunger Walk is the second largest in the country west of the Mississippi?  Only Kansas City beats us.  And yes, I realize that Illinois is technically east of the river, but we are the only bi-state walk in the USA.

Looking forward to seeing you all on August 17th!  Questions?  Don’t hesitate to ask.
